What are the purposes of dating, for most people?

Finding sex partners and potential relationships are the two primary reasons IMO for almost everyone who dates. Are there other reasons Im [sic] missing out for why a person may date someone?

That just about covers it, I think. That, or they do it because of societal pressure, i.e. feeling like they have to have dated someone by X age because everyone else is doing it. (I went on three miserable dates because my friends set me up and then decided dating really wasn’t my thing.)
